As deliberations over the U.S. Budget Reconciliation and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill roll on, stories have leaked that Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema wants to cut $100 Billion from climate funding. These two pieces of legislation are both heavily loaded with climate policy and integral to pivoting America in a sustainable direction. Sinema’s demand to cut spending on climate provisions could force cuts to programs that would help communities adapt to climate change, help companies transition to a clean energy economy, and help protect the environment.

What’s good in the climate policy?

• Reward electric utilities that switch from burning fossil fuels to wind, solar or nuclear power, and penalize companies that don’t. 

• Provide tax incentives to increase the use of wind and solar power and electric vehicles.

What are we doing about it?
