How To Make It Electric

Greetings and salutations! As we embark on this journey to a more sustainable future, let’s take a moment of gratitude for ourselves and each other for putting in the effort. In the coming weeks, we will focus on the infrastructure needed to address climate change.

Happy Place Community Climate Action

Who, What, When, Why, and How?

Starting with the good news - Ford, GM, and Stellantis recently announced they are transitioning their fleets to electric vehicles. This is projected to lead to a combined 40-50% of vehicle sales to be electric by 2030 in the US. Almost every automaker has plans to integrate electric vehicles into their fleets with varying dates for reaching Carbon Neutrality. As 29% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation, this news is huge and should conjure a little hope!

The Good Stuff

$7.5 billion is budgeted to expand electric vehicle charging stations to underserved areas through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill currently in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Where do we come in?

Happy Place started a petition to send to automakers assuring them of our enthusiasm for this transition to Electric Vehicles and challenging them to set goals for carbon neutrality by 2030 at the latest. The largest contributors to climate change should be holding themselves to a higher standard.

Bravo to Volvo, Rolls Royce, and Bentley for taking this pledge!

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Update

The bill is still with the U.S. House of Representatives and is our best bet to get more Electric Vehicle charging station locations nationwide. Last week, Happy Place scripted an email for you to send to your House Representative letting them know how important the infrastructure bill is to saving our happy places. We will encourage them to include all climate policies from the Biden Administration's Build Back Better agenda.
