Below are 4 Actions You Can Take to Combat Climate Change today!
Stop Fossil Fuel CEOs from Manipulating Our Government
Who, what, when, where, why, how?
The U.S. Congress is currently working on the Budget Reconciliation Bill, which contains the most robust climate policy the U.S. has ever seen. This bill could really change the game on how the U.S. addresses the climate crisis, leaving a resounding impact on the world for generations to come. So what’s the issue? Fossil fuel CEOs are pressuring Congress to remove climate action from this spending bill. Whether through lobbying, campaign funding, or large fossil fuel industries in their states (cough cough - Dem. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia) - Fossil fuel company CEOs have some of our elected officials in their back pocket.
This seems off - what can we do about it?
As part of our democratic process, it is always good to remind politicians that they are beholden to their constituency. The best way to do this - call your Senators and State Representatives. Call4Climate has one phone number you can call that will connect you to all of the offices of your representatives. They’ve also provided you with a quick and easy script. The person answering the phone will not challenge or question you. They’ll simply tally your preference and say thank you. No stress, we promise.
Put a Stop to New Fossil Fuel Projects
Tell Macquarie Bank No More Fracked Gas on the Gulf Coast
What? Sign a petition with the Sierra Club telling Macquarie Bank to withdraw support from NextDecade’s proposed Rio Grande LNG Project.
Why? Fossil fuel corporations are pushing through approvals on dozens of fracked gas export terminals across the Gulf Coast, many of them in communities already hurting from the effects of living next to toxic fossil fuels refineries, and extreme climate disasters, like hurricanes.
